Module 2

For this project, I used Mapbox Studio to create a bivariate map that compares Canadian earthquake activity with First Nations administrative locations. I explored different visualization methods, imported real datasets, and designed a final map that highlights spatial overlap using clear styling and mapping principles.

Activity 1

This was my first time using Mapbox, I tried to create a new style, and set the map in Paris. I really wanted to see how extrusions worked, you needed to be closer to the map to see this. It was fun to see the college from this perspective! I played around with the time of day to change the colors of the map, I visited this center in New Jersey where I went to my first ever concert! Somehow I ended up doing a theme of places where concerts are held. This is the famous Tokyo Dome, it was cool to see it's texture come through in the extrusion. After playing around with the time of day, I thought it would be cool to see if I could find a realistic landscape. This is a random landscape in South Korea, I liked it because it really expressed the beauty of the earth. I chose the location of Paris again, but played around with the time of day. Unlike the other image this is taken in daylight. I tried to try a different version of the map, focusing more on color that extrusion, this one is of Toronto. I tried to explore locations of meaning to me, for example this location is the hospital I was born at. I figured out you can search for locations, which ended up being much faster than having to scroll my way through the map. I figured out how to get a side view of Sheridan College, it was intresting because the extrusions helped you see which buildings were taller than others! I wanted to focus on a different angle of the Prudential Center, because the buidling was so detailed compared to others. Activity 2

I wanted to choose an image that would have high contrast for the map. I tried to add the bike route following the tutorial, but it was hard to see. I changed the color so the lines of data were easier to see. An angle that has the overview of the map. An angle that has the overview of the map. Material Workshop 1

Image of the Marquee, it looked out of place and very cluttered. It was hard to walk in and feel like you had a comfotable amount of space. I found the stream of water in the middle of the campus, it was very beautiful but messy from the leaves and not really a nice place to sit. Found an image of the back of the campus somewhere, the chairs and tables looked so uncomfortable and randomly placed, just overall uninviting and a waste of space.

Material Workshop 2

Re-modelling of how the Marquee should look liked, its much more organized with much more comforting seats. Fixed the screens and the setup of food in the Marquee so that it's easier for people to view and find what they wanted to order. Added a glass pavillion outside so that you can get sunlight but also block out any snow in the winter. Added more comfortable chairs and seating, with more variety and greenery.
